OBSBOT Center macOS Permissions Instructions

This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough for installing OBSBOT Center on your Mac and configuring the necessary system permissions to ensure a smooth user experience.

Download and Installation

1. Identify Your Mac's Chip Architecture

To ensure software compatibility, it is essential to check your Mac's chip architecture first and download the corresponding version of OBSBOT Center.
  • Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen, then select "About This Mac".

  • In the pop-up window, locate the "Processor" or "Chip" section to check if your Mac is equipped with an "Intel" or "Apple" chip.

2. Download and Install OBSBOT Center

  • Visit the Official OBSBOT Download Page and download the version of OBSBOT Center that matches your chip architecture (Intel or Apple Silicon).

  • Once the download is complete, double-click the .dmg file (e.g., OBSBOT_Center_X.X.X.dmg) in your Downloads folder (or your custom download location).

  • A window will appear showing the OBSBOT Center icon and the Applications folder. Click and hold the "OBSBOT Center" icon, then drag it into the "Applications" folder shortcut to complete the installation.

📌Note: DO NOT double-click the "OBSBOT Center" icon inside the installation window to launch the app. This only runs the app temporarily from the virtual disk, which may cause some features to malfunction.
  • After installation, open "Finder", find "OBSBOT Center" in the "Locations" sidebar, and click the arrow next to it to eject the installation package.

3. Launch OBSBOT Center

Once installed, you can launch the OBSBOT Center using either of the two methods below.

  • From Launchpad: Click the "Launchpad" icon in the Dock, locate the "OBSBOT Center" and click it to open.

  • From Applications folder: Open "Finder", click "Applications" in the left sidebar, locate the "OBSBOT Center" and double-click it to launch the app.

1. Initial Security Authorization

  • After installation, if a prompt appears stating "OBSBOT Center is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?", click "Open".

  • If the "OBSBOT Center" app remains blocked, go to "System Settings" > "Privacy & Security", scroll down to the "Security" section, and click "Open Anyway" for OBSBOT Center.

2. Essential Permissions for Full Functionality

To ensure OBSBOT Center works properly, enable the following permissions in "System Settings" > "Privacy & Security".

  • Bluetooth: Allows OBSBOT Center to discover and pair with nearby Bluetooth devices.

  • Microphone: Allows OBSBOT Center to access your microphone for audio capture.

  • Camera: Allows OBSBOT Center to receive and display the live video feed from your connected OBSBOT camera.

  • Files and Folders: Allows OBSBOT Center to save recorded videos/screenshots to local storage and upload local files to the app.

  • Input Monitoring: Enables the use of global hotkeys and remote control functionality even when the OBSBOT Center runs in the background.

3. Troubleshooting No Sound During Recording

If there is no sound when recording with OBSBOT Center, check the following settings.

  • Go to "System Settings" > "Privacy & Security" > "Microphone" and confirm that the permission for OBSBOT Center is enabled.

  • Go to "System Settings" > "Sound" > "Input", select your OBSBOT microphone (e.g., OBSBOT Tiny 3 Microphone), then check the input volume. You can verify if audio is being captured by observing whether the input level bar moves when sound is detected.

macOS Sequoia 15 introduces a revised authorization process for virtual cameras. All other permission settings are identical to those of macOS Sonoma 14. Follow the steps below for complete configuration.

1. Virtual Camera Authorization

Virtual camera functionality requires separate authorization (critical for camera feed transmission). If this permission is disabled, the virtual camera may fail to work.

  • Go to "System Settings" > "General", then select "Login Items & Extensions".

  • Toggle on the permission for OBSBOT Center, and click "Done" to save the setting.

macOS Tahoe 26 retains the virtual camera authorization process from macOS Sequoia 15 with a minor navigation adjustment. All other permissions follow the configuration steps for macOS Sonoma 14. Complete all steps below for seamless use.
