How to Manage Device Permissions on OBSBOT Tail Series

Keeping your camera secure matters — especially when it's connected to a shared network. To give you full control over who can access your OBSBOT Tail series device, we've introduced Device Permission Management.

These new features let you bind your device to a personal account, set access rules for other users, and manage visitor permissions — all from your preferred OBSBOT app.

Before You Begin

Make sure your software and firmware are updated to the following versions to unlock these features:

Note: This update applies to OBSBOT Tail Air and Tail 2 only.

OBSBOT Center

1. Bind Your Device

After logging into OBSBOT Center, the first time you add a network device, you'll be prompted: "Are you the owner of this device?" Click OK to bind the device to your account. This is a one-time setup — once bound, you won't be prompted again.

Once bound, you can manage device permissions from your Account Information.

Go to My Devices, then click the gear icon in the top-right corner of your bound device to open permission settings.

You can set the access level to one of three options:

  • Public Access — All users on the network can access your device freely.

public access

  • Verified Access — Users must enter an access code to connect. You can also enable Permanent Visitor Application, which allows a verified visitor to access the device directly on future visits without re-entering the code.

  • Deny Access — No visitors can access your device. You can also choose to clear all previously granted visitor permissions at the same time.

3. Manage Visitors

When Verified Access is enabled, go to the Visitor List to manage individual visitor permissions. You can remove permanent visitor's access, delete temporary visitor permissions, or promote a temporary visitor to permanent status.
