Discover Night View Mode on OBSBOT Tail 2

Low-light shooting has always been a creative challenge. Traditional cameras often struggle with excessive noise, blurred details, and dull colors when capturing scenes in dim environments. The OBSBOT Tail 2 changes that with its Night View Mode, purpose-built to capture clear images and true-to-life color even in the dark.

In this guide, we'll explore how Night View Mode works, how it performs in real-world scenarios, and share tips to help you capture stunning low-light footage with ease.

What Is Night View Mode?

OBSBOT Tail 2's Night View Mode is a specialized shooting feature tailored for low-light scenarios. Drawing on the solid night-shooting capabilities of the OBSBOT Tail Air, this mode integrates two key enhancements to elevate the camera's low-light performance:

1. Enhanced 2μm Pixel Sensor

The larger sensor is designed to capture more ambient light, significantly boosting the camera's low-light sensitivity.

2. AI-enhanced Night Vision Technology

OBSBOT Tail 2 combines an advanced AI Image Signal Processor (ISP) with a new AI noise reduction algorithm to redefine low-light imaging. The AI ISP processes low-light environment image data intelligently, while the algorithm reduces noise, preserves fine details, and avoids over-denoising blur — together achieving unprecedented clarity in challenging nocturnal conditions.

Important Notes for Using Night View Mode
  • Night View Mode and HDR are mutually exclusive — they cannot be active at the same time.
  • When Night View Mode is on, only frame rates ≤ 30 fps are supported.
  • Only Auto Exposure works in Night View Mode, with maximum ISO limited to 25600.
  • If there are multiple 4K video streams in Night View Mode, when any one of the streams is set to 4K@30fps or 4K@29.97fps, the parameters of the other 4K streams will automatically follow that stream.
  • You cannot switch Night View Mode (on/off) while recording, NDI (RTSP/SRT) output, or live streaming is in progress.
  • Under three conditions — Night View Mode enabled, device in portrait shooting mode, and any stream (recording/NDI/live streaming) set to 4K@30fps/4K@29.97fps — HDMI and SDI outputs will be unavailable, and a default static image will show.
  • The media parameters in Night View Mode only take effect when Night View Mode is enabled.
