OBSBOT August Firmware & Software Update Now Available

We are thrilled to announce new software and firmware updates for Tail 2, Tail Air, Meet 2, Meet SE, OBSBOT Center, Obsbot Start, and Obsbot Live. These updates bring a host of new features and enhancements designed to streamline operations, boost creative control, and deliver an even more seamless user experience. Let's explore these exciting new features and upgrade instructions together.

OBSBOT Tail 2 Firmware Update

Upgrade to Version 7.2.8.1 now to access key updates.

1. Add "Auto Brightness Compensation"

In manual mode, when adjusting the focal length, the ISO value will automatically adjust to keep the image brightness consistent. This eliminates the need for constant manual ISO tweaks, allowing you to focus on framing the perfect shot while maintaining optimal exposure.

2. Add "ONE PUSH White Balance"

Tail 2 now supports "ONE PUSH White Balance". Simply place a white paper within the camera's view, frame the reference, and click 'SET'. Tail 2 will instantly adjust the white balance. This feature works by using the white of the paper as the reference color to calibrate the image, ensuring accurate white balance adjustment with minimal effort.

3. Add "Gimbal Smoothness Adjustment"

Experience smoother camera movements with adjustable smoothness — featuring slow start and slow stop when moving the gimbal. This eliminates jarring transitions, making camera movements feel more natural and enhancing the viewing experience.

4. 3G-SDI supports fractional frame rates and progressive/interlaced scan

This broadens the compatibility of Tail 2 with various video systems, ensuring seamless integration into diverse production environments.

Note: When the SDl output frame rate is 59.94/29.97fps, the HDMl resolution/frame rate will match the SDl.

5. HDMI supports Output settings

Customize your HDMI output to suit your specific needs. This flexibility ensures compatibility with a wide range of displays and recording devices.

Note: HDMI supports 1080i when the maximum frame rate for recording/NDI (RTSP/SRT)/livestreaming is 30/29.97/25fps.

6. Reduce HDMI/SDI Latency

Enjoy more responsive monitoring and live streaming with lower latency. 

Note: We will release a low-latency mode in future updates that will further reduce delay, enhancing real-time operations. Stay tuned for this upcoming update.

7. Support VISCA over IP/Pelco-P compatibility with AVKANS keyboards

No more manual inputting of IP addresses. The auto-discovery feature simplifies setup, reducing configuration time and ensuring quick and easy connection.

9. VISCA Protocol Enhancements

• Support enabling/disabling AI Tracking

• Optimize PTZ Control Smoothness

• ISO is adjusted in increments of 25 each time

These enhancements provide finer control and allow for more precise exposure adjustments while using the VISCA Protocol.

Compatible with low-config PCs, "Smoothness Priority" mode ensures that even users with less powerful hardware can enjoy the beauty features without sacrificing performance.

2. Global Hotkeys Enhancement

For Global Hotkeys, device switching is now accessible via a dropdown menu, simplifying the process of finding devices. Additionally, hotkey recording capabilities have been enriched to better align with diverse user scenarios.

3. Optimize the interaction and response logic for the recording function, enhancing user experience

For Windows: "ISO Recording" is now available when a single device is connected.

For macOS: Add "Advanced Recording" for devices with high-frame-rate recording/SD card recording capabilities.

4. The "Feedback" entry is now added to Tiny and Meet Series

5. Redesign View and PTZ Interaction (For Meet 2/Meet SE)

When zoomed in, users can adjust the display image by dragging the view area with the mouse in the View and Gimbal section — offering a "What you see is what you get" experience. This intuitive operation helps users adjust to their desired frame quickly and conveniently.

6. Support for enabling/disabling Night View Mode (For Tail 2) 

Note: Under certain media output settings, Night View Mode is unavailable.
